General Wow! Thanks readers for coming to my blog even though it has been awhile since I have blogged. Honestly there are so many thoughts running in my head, and how nice if I can just transfer it into my blog automatically. Family On a positive note, my children are growing well and I'm just so amazed of how God has entrusted both Eve and I to be parents for them. Food wise, we honestly PREFER home cooked food and last week, our grandmother actually came and stayed over at our place. She is really an asset to the house, helping us with ironing, cooking and folding the clothes, and all these is just done out of her great heart. Really felt so thankful for her to come and assist us.  Her style of cooking is different from mine and definitely better. Her fried egg is so much more delicious than mine even though we use the same amount of eggs, same pot and oil! How can it be?! Maybe it's her 89 years of experience adds to the flavor of the egg. She also c...

Blood Donation

Image
I was walking along Toa Payoh Central today and I saw a lady carrying a blood donation poster. She asked me to donate. I left and walked back later, decided to donate. I went to Toa Payoh Community Centre to do the blood donation. Feel so good after donating and 450mL of blood was given away! Do you know how many lives can a small packet of blood can save? Three! This is so amazing and I told myself to make it a point to donate blood every three months! Cool stuff! The process Yes, up till today, I still do not have the courage to see the needle and I will divert my attention somewhere when they inject the needle. There's a feeling but it's not that painful. It's so psychological for me, however I applaud myself for taking the courage to do it! Go Mervyn. PS: Kate knows how to pronounce my name too!

I was on my way to office and suddenly, the thought of blood donation popped in my head. I went to Dhoby Ghaut Exchange as they have a blood bank there. It's newly opened and I can say that they are very efficient. I wrote my particulars and did my blood pressure. It's normal and my iron level is 15.6! It's normal too! And they say that strong iron levels is attributed to eating lean meat and leafy vegetables, which are in my diet. Then came the actual blood donation! To tell you frankly, actually I'm quite afraid of blood and needles. Whenever they get into me, I would turn my head to the other side, hoping the needle won't burst my veins! However, I'm amazed that it's absolutely painless. The nurse is very skilled and friendly. Within 7 minutes or so, my blood bag is filled. And it's done! My next blood donation is first week of January next year. I feel much refreshed after the donation! Proud of myself. In fact, they have a history, saying th...
