New look

Yes, pardon for the hiatus of the blog posts for this month. There are so much things to be done and it's really glad that the main task is completed! That is our house renovation!

The new living room

Our new living room

We hang a frangipani painting by my father in law, and it's really beautiful to be placed there. It's actually his art piece he sent to a hotel as a proposal for a project!

This new living room definitely has a larger usable space and trust me, it really feels so much more airy and we have much more space after hacking down the kitchen wall.

For the choice of colour, we choose white as we want a clean feel to the whole space!

The night view of the living room

The addition of the full length mirror widens the whole living room space, having the visual effect that we have a longer and bigger living room! That's Eve's idea! And the best is they can dance!

The other half of the living room, with the book area and chalkboard

The making use of the chalkboard paint is an avenue for the creativity for everyone, include us adults! Josh and Kate love to draw and scribble their thoughts! Love it so much when you can see them freely draw their perception of people, buses, food, faces etc.

We made use of down lights as well as energy saving bulbs from Phillips as they are much more environmental friendly and cost efficient.

All of us love the flooring too! It's vinyl, not exactly to the environmental friendly type. However, it is very durable and easy to clean. Low maintenance flooring too.

The children's entry way

This entry way is enhanced to be a place where my children will place their bags the moment they come back from school. Thus, it will give them a systematic place to where their things to be and a sense of ownership of their stuff. People ask what if we have fourth child? Where can we place the another alphabet? Well, wait till we have then we will see how we can place it! Ha.

The photo collage, made by my father in law is really beautiful as the size matches the length of the cabinet too.

The interior designer, Rustics Interior, are able to do what your thoughts want to be. Most of the ideas we propose, she is able to deliver and even helps to give logical and better suggestions too, example the height, the telephone lines, cables, switches position... Really kudos for their professionalism.

The new kitchen

Josh and I at the cooking area

Kitchen is one of the most exciting place as the chopping area is doubled, and we have more space for cooking! Even Josh loves to help me cook while I'm preparing for the meals! The new Teka exhaust is much more efficient and quieter too. (It's above my head)

We also added metal bars to as to place the pots for easy storage. We used to place it on the electric hob or on the granite table, which eats up the usable space. Hence it's a wiser choice to have the metal bars as the storage space.

Water point area and the dishwasher!

The kitchen is also exciting because of this Bosch mini dishwasher! It's the first time we have this device at home as it efficiently cleans the plates and pots, and saves water and time too! Totally a great buy as it unlocks more spending time with the children after meals. It's so amazing what man can create!

The night view of the kitchen

We installed LED lights at the bottom of the cabinets so as to beautify the kitchen at night and it makes it a warm and enjoyable feeling to be in. It saves electricity too!

Summary
Honestly, it takes great faith and vision to renovate your house and one should do ample research. Eve actually spent quite awhile to decide on the type of new fittings to be placed in the house, and the decisions are honestly not easy. Really thank her for the effort!

The type of colour, height, length, space to walk, type of lighting, sockets positioning - all these need to use the mental juice! The numerous trips down to Phillips for the selection of lights, and Bosch to decide on the dishwasher as well as Teka for the electric hob and exhaust are learning experiences and we learnt so much! And thanks to Pinterest, we are able to get a number of great ideas for the house and we incorporated into our place.

We also want to thank Gumtree as we managed to sell those unused usable stuff such as our old sink, baby carrier, exhaust, stroller, tables! And just amazed that we have so much things in the house we didn't use at all! Love it. Hence renovation is a spring cleaning for us too!

We are really glad that everything went well, and all of us love our new dwelling! A place where we all grow and eat together! :)
