Botanic Gardens - Jacob Ballas

Going back to Jacob Ballas at Botanic Gardens is honestly a valuable experience. Passing by the lush greeneries and different types of trees (monkey apple, rubber tree, dragonfruit plant etc) is a great learning experience for everyone!

It's been a few months since we revisited this place because it was undergoing some minor repairs. And we are so glad that they reopened! In fact, my last post on Jacob Ballas was in 2012!

Look at the happy faces of the children! And some random mug shots of happy Gwen.

For Josh and Kate, we should bring their swimming costumes. This is much more desirable so as to prevent them from feeling slightly chilly. You can see there are other older children sitting on the green water feature. Later both Josh and Kate also wanted to try too!

I find that after the renovation of this water play area, the strength of the water sprays are much weaker and not so random. In the past, the water spouts and sprays varies the strength every minute, giving the children additional surprise element for the water play. You can see the difference in this post.

Nevertheless, they still enjoy playing and don't want to go back home! Luckily we set a time frame. That is 'two more minutes' and they understand the limit and we changed up.

Gwen's learning how to grab the water spout using her hand, and she didn't know that it's tough to grab the 'water'. We brought some toys for the older children, and they had their own share of fun.

How to get there..

We took to Botanic Gardens MRT Station and headed towards the Swan Lake, and walk the path heading left. You will reach Jacob Ballas. This is the shortest path that we discovered.

Or drive to the NUS campus Bukit Timah and there is a carpark outside Jacob Ballas.

Love this urban sanctuary.
