Smoothies

Love them.

Recently, we started to incorporate smoothies into our diet.

In our busy lives, it's actually quite tough to find healthy and good food, and we tend to look for snacks which are to the unhealthy side. Fruits and vegetables are quite tough to find at times. Hence, smoothies are actually a great fusion of both fruits and vegetables!

It's really considered as a fast food for both Eve and I, as we just need to prepare the blender, wash the vegetables, and blend! Yummy!

Outside juices

1. Ignorance is not bliss. There are simply so many types of sugars and we have artificial sweeteners, raw sugar, fructose, sucrose etc. Those packaged juices, usually contain artificial colourings, and undergone pasturization (to make the juice last longer) and have their natural water content removed to make the entire juice a concentrate. In summary, precious nutrients are lost and you are mainly drinking sugar.

Too much sugar will cause your insulin level to rise and in turn cause increase in blood sugar. It may also harm your pancreas. It's certainly not good.

2. Juicing seems healthy, however too much of it is quite damaging to the body due to the high content in fructose. One should eat the fibre together with the juice. Hence, people may feel a spite of energy after drinking the juice, and may feel lethargic after awhile. We should add vegetables with juice together! Fibres are really good with our intestines and help to remove waste from our bodies.

We just started some smoothies on our own and blending the ingredient together. Quite exciting because every time you add different ingredients, the taste of the smoothie is different! Below are some of the smoothies we have done!

Power Greens with Blue Berries and Banana

What nice army colour!

We made this healthy drink for breakfast!

How we made it?
1. 1 ripen banana
2. 2 handfuls of organic baby spinach
3. 1 tbsp of instant oats
4. 1 tsp of chocolate powder
5. 1 cup of water
6. 1 tsp of chia seeds
7. 1 cup of blue berries

After blending, wow! It taste terrific and we actually feel very good. For smoothies, we ought to drink slowly so that our body can absorb well and also we can bite and chew the fibre! Totally refreshing and you can feel your every cell absorbing the nutrients.

Powerful Grapefruit with Greens and Banana

This drink is really amazing and it's full of vitamin C. Didn't know that grapefruit and vegetables taste good with each other.

How we made it
1. 1 grapefruit (remove seeds)
2. 2 handful of organic baby romaine leaves
3. 1 ripen banana
4. 1 tsp of chia seeds
5. 1 cup of water

Just blend it and taste the goodness of it.

If you blend too much, you can just store back to the fridge for maximum 2 days. And do make sure you cover the cup with cling wrap.

Smoothies make me realize that I'm taking into my body greens and fruits which I seldom add to my diet. And there are hundreds of varieties of smoothies to choose from. And you just buy the ingredients and blend them. No brainer and it's something we love it. Really thank Eve for introducing this to our lives.
