Krabi 17Jan - 19Jan 2013

Krabi is a very nice place indeed! On 17th Jan, my organisation organised an outing to Krabi and I brought my whole family out for the first time, without my mother-in-law! It is definitely a test on our faith as well as our parenting skills overseas as there are quite a few unknowns that we have to handle. Things such as air flight, food at Thailand, the lodging conditions, the environment and their adaptability at the place.

Apparently, things turned out fine for us! We are indeed very glad that we brought our children with us and they shared the equal joy with us. There wasn't much, in fact, no one brought their children except us! Hence we have to stay as cool and calm as possible if there are some fussing around. We are very thankful that my fellow colleagues actually helped out involuntarily and gave us some 'resting' and 'eating' time for both of us!

The Elements Hotel
----------------------------

We stayed at the Elements hotel and boy, I tell you, it is a very good staycation for relaxation! The morning sun is cooling and the air is fresh at this place! The pool is 5 stars and their service is also very good. I tried their sauna and there was no one. Felt at ease too. Their buffet was ok, and we particularly loved their salad, which was not eaten by a lot of people.

There are few must-try stuff at the place.

MUST TRY! (25baht = S$1)
1. Thai fried rice with crab

It is so delicious that we ordered two servings at a time! You know in Singapore, frequently fried crab rice is actually stir fried with crab sticks. How authentic! Here, they really use the actual crab meat. So delicious. Josh and Kate ate so much also.

2. Tom yam soup

How can one not try their authentic tom yam soup when you are in Thailand? They are very generous with their lemongrass as well as lime leaves! Their prawns are superbly fresh and very delicious. We used to cook our very own tom yam soup and didn't use much lemon grass. So now we know that they actually add alot of fresh ginger and green chilli as well as lemon grass.

3. Coconuts
We have seen coconuts that cost 30baht to 70baht. Apparently, the 40baht are the nicest!

It's amazing to see how different we hold the straws! And yes, all of us loved the coconut juice in the fine weather there. They just match so well!

4. Green Curry

Their green curry is very authentic! The thick coconut gravy. Drools. Kinda towards the spicy side. We haven't tried to cook but the ingredients such as baby egg plant is delicious! And they added the basal leaves, totally match the fried thai rice!

5. Banana pancake
It is so delicious that we didn't take picture of it! We ate it at Ao Naung beach area and it's so cheap! 30baht. According to our friends, it used to cost 20baht!

Activities at Krabi
--------------------------
Our friends tried out the Elephant ride, Island hopping as well as River rafting. As we have children, we found out that it was quite tough for us to bring them along. We heard from them that these three events are very fun and they took quite a number of beautiful pictures! Probably when Josh and Kate are older, we can bring them along.

Eve tried their in-house thai massage 300baht and it was quite painful for her. She loved their thai facial spa and the price is actually quite affordable too! 1060baht. I didn't dare to try the thai massage because I did it in 2007 and it was the first and last experience for me. My friends, who were beside me, slept during the massage. For me, I was making those ouch sounds and I was breaking cold sweat. It was more a torture than a massage.

Swimming at The Elements
--------------------------------------
The water doesn't taste chlorinated and it's really a plus point for us. And can you see the greeneries? It's quite a sea swimming pool feeling whereby when you swim, there will be branches surfaced near your head. It's like you are swimming in a small natural lake!

Josh and Kate played with the available balls there! They loved it!

Love this picture!
This place, their greeneries are very beautiful. We spotted a fully grown water lotus and it bloomed so big! Like Boomz! We quickly took a picture. Josh was behind both of us and he refused to take picture.

Children
-------------
Well they have their own mix of fun there. They can mutually entertain each other and hug around too!

Happy Josh hugging Kate

Happy Josh munching his cute agar-agar. They come in cute shapes of love and flower!
It's quite rare we let him try sweet jelly actually.

Ain't they happy bunch of children!

We spotted this old-school swing at the back yard of the hotel. We loved it! The swinging feeling.

Both on the wooden horse. So cute.

Funny incident
--------------------
There was a bath tub. My children and I went in and I actually have bathed them cleanly already. Later, I spotted a black spot beside me and it was FLOATING! And Kate passed motion beside me in the bath tub! I quickly evacuated all of them!! Oh my my! I bathed them again. Funny right??

We find it indeed that it's a joy to bring our children to overseas. They may be too young to remember about the place. However, through pictures, they can remember it. Most importantly, it's the time spent with their parents, that I hope they treasure and remember it in their hearts :).
