Happy Birthday Josh

Well, 15th August 2013 marked a special date for Josh. He is now 4 years old! And it also tells us that we are 4 years as parents and counting!

What we did
This year, we made it a simple affair and we did not buy any cakes at all for Josh! :) We just decide to do what both our children like to do :)

We went to Toa Payoh SAFRA swimming complex and they loved it so much! Josh and Kate shared the float and it's their first time using it willingly! And the baby pool's very clean! Love the place so much.

For dinner, we dine at Hai Jing Lou (nearby the Toa Payoh Central). It's also Josh's favourite porridge place. Hence we decided to patronise there. And he ate like 2 bowls while Kate ate 3 bowls of porridge! Wow.

Soon after that, we celebrated his birthday at Brownice at Marymount, our favourite vegan ice cream shop whereby we had our waffles and healthy ice cream! We tried his favourite strawberry ice cream and a new delicious flavor, hazelnut! So delicious!!

What Josh has taught us

As parents, we teach our children the positive lessons. On the other way round, Josh, being our first child, has taught us so many lessons that school didn't even teach us!

He started the healthy cooking regime at home. And both Eve and I started to plan meals and research on easy cooking for ourselves. Also, the wet market shopping every week! Amazing stuff.

Josh also made us feel loved and made the whole family even closer. The priceless happiness, joy and laughter a child can bring to the family really makes you feel that your efforts are worth it. They are real and children don't tell lies. What is true in their heart, you will know it. They will also know who cares for them at this tender age.

He also taught us to prioritize our time for work and family, and maximise the timings for cooking! This is something quite tough but it is manageable (with pre-planning). It's really very happy to see your children eating and enjoying the food that you cook! And he also prepares the meals with me too (when he is around 3 years of age!)

Josh and I in November 2009

We used to have a blog for him. It's called joshhoe.blogspot.com. Some updates were there. However, after a few months, I found it quite tiring to update on both blogs. And at times, I wonder should I blog in a first or third person account! Ha. It's still exist, and I love to go back to see to look at the young baby Josh!

Josh when he was 6 months old at Hainan

I just find that children birthdays are for them. However, it also means the amount of parenting years you have with them. And it's at time good to reflect on what we have done and how much they have grown!
