Gwen's Baby Shower

On National Day, we celebrated Gwen's full month and it's really fun to see our dear friends and relatives once again! People came in one by one, and we receive so many positive well wishes! Everyone's so happy.

My one month old Gwen :) Ain't she lovely!

What we did

Caterer
We had an estimated turn up of 70 guests. Hence we ordered from two caterers - Angeli and Okashi. And the serving size is 60.

Angeli has their speciality of laksa, noodles, onde onde, fried rice, vegetables and also the fried noodles.

Notice the chairs and the tables - all are rented. This is from Angeli. Nice decoration.
The another view of it. Luckily our corridor has space.
The pot is the laksa! Yum! And they have a wide array of ingredients e.g bean sprouts, prawns, fish cake... it's a laksa DIY. And the dou suan has the you tiao! :)

Okashi has their generous and delicious spread of duck, braised meat with bao, chicken curry, carrot cake and the fried butter prawns. And I liked the barley drink as a dessert. This is the first time we tried this caterer and their food is not so salty and I have to say once again that they are very generous in their serving.

Furniture
How to cater 70 people in a 4-S apartment? We rented 6 tables (from Angeli) and 50 chairs (from Okashi).

Angeli's chairs are slightly more expensive. Likewise for Okashi's tables. Hence we didn't order from one caterer.

We made use of the void deck to house the food and the tables.

Decoration
We did simple decoration and Eve bought pom pom online! And with the help of Ah-ma, we did the 12 pom pom by ourselves!

We bought these self made pom pom... You can google it. It's $2 each.

The end product! Nice?

We also had these small lanterns from Daiso!

These three lanterns are from Daiso :)

We also made a scrap book on Gwen, so that people will know how Gwen was during pregnancy, birth and after birth!

Had a mini poster for her too! This is made by my father-in-law.

Balloonist
We hired a balloonist for an hour to liven up the whole event and also want to have the children occupied! And what I was amazed that even adults are wanting the balloons! Some requested for flowers, swords, butterfly and even smurfs!

The balloonist helped to make these decorations :)

I find it's a good investment ($100) because he will come early and help to decorate the baby cot, making it special for Gwen.

House clean up
Actually we like to do this event at our place because we get to do a major clean up for our house, repacking as well as removing those things we do not need.

And secondly, it's like a house viewing for my guests. Hence all the more have to keep the place neat and tidy.

Aircon
We powered on all the 4 aircons in our house! The weather was slightly to the warm side, and luckily we have aircons to support us! Not forgetting the fan!

Confinement food
To add an extra taste for the guests, we offered them the red date tea (which Eve drank for the whole month for confinement) as well as the pork leg black vinegar!

After the event, I'm so happy that we didn't manage to waste much food and they brought back home the remainder dishes.

It seemed like a wedding lunch for us, but we feel it's really very fun to have so many people housed in our place, and to celebrate Gwen's baby shower as well as the mark of the liberation of the confinement lady = we take full care of Gwen!

My Community Service Club friends! We are expanding!! More babies...

Some of the pictures, we didn't really have Gwen inside because Eve is feeding her or somehow she is carried around by other guests. Hence the poster really helps to show that it's her baby shower :) It's really amazing and happy to spread so much happiness to my friends and relatives!

Once again, thank you for attending Gwen's baby shower!
