Josh and trains

Josh loves his train tracks! And recently, we got him another set of train tracks as a reward because he managed to go toilet and make big business for consecutive 7 days! We even had a tracker on the whiteboard, and he would paste a sticker once a day has passed. And thereafter, he stopped using the potty for his passing of motion!

I realized that Josh really loves to build different types of train tracks, with splits and tunnels. I have sat down and played with him and these few days, he formed his own train track elevators!

He made use of egg trays and other toys to elevate up the train tracks! This was something he invented by his own!

He even used paper plates as an additional height for the train tracks! Totally creative and he said that the white plate acted as a station for the trains.

Here is another unique train elevated tracks. He made use of the green plastic tray. It's really quite nice when the whole entire train network has different types of colors!

And for this red tunnel, because he has a larger train to go through the tunnel, he has to elevate the tunnel up. I taught him once that he can make use of two train tracks and place the tunnel on it. And today, he managed to do it on his own! When I came back from work, I saw this beautiful train system totally designed by him.

Ain't this original? So proud of him. The large box is his train box, which we use it to keep all his train tracks and trains,

I really want to thank IKEA for designing such user friendly train tracks, that can instill creativity for children as well as parents! Of course we kept encouraging Josh to build and even Kate plays a portion of the train tracks built by Josh. At times, she attempts to build her own and says 'help me' to Josh when she needs his help to construct longer train tracks!

Now, Josh repairs train tracks very fast, and he is observant to check that the train tracks are in order before he starts to build much more extensive designs. These train tracks are easily trampled upon by us (oops!) because our legs just step on them.

Come to think of it, when I was his age, I didn't recall myself to be so hands on in toys. Guess that it's a strength for Josh and we will explore ways to develop this skill and interest for him!
