Bak Zhang and first time on River cruise

Hey..
Yesterday was certainly a day to remember. With so much fun with Eve's relatives and did so much washing and cleaning up.

Early part of the day, Eve woke up to soak mushrooms and eversince we have taken our breakfast, we have worked hard on the preparation work for rice dumplings (aka bak zhang)!!

I'm really amazed that team work plays a great part in rice dumpling making. Last year, we ended up around 7pm but this year, at 5.30pm, we have made a total of over 160 dumplings and we have distributed to our love ones.

Josh and Kate enjoyed the event and so many people played with them, especially their cousins. Josh certainly likes to mingle with slightly older children as he feels that he can learn from them. So happy to see the sight.

The washing part was done mostly by me. And I also in charged of the dumplings (1hour 45 min) of boiling. The packaging of the dumplings are done by the aunties and the younger generation are learning too. I only did one. So tough to do.

The end result: wonderful tasting rice dumplings and it's really happy to eat them. The taste is different from what we eat outside.

River cruise
---------------
After we have made the rice dumplings and all the cleaning up has been done, we headed to Clarke quay to take the River cruise. We thought we can catch the fireworks but we didn't manage to got on the cruise earlier. Also there was a queue.

It was 30 minutes and I can say that Singapore river is really full of night life. The funny thing is that there was a lady playing live on a guzheng. And the first song is Criminal by Britney Spears. So funny right? Both Eve and I are so shocked. Throughout the ride, we heard backstreet boys song, Chinese songs and romantic songs. We feel that they should introduce about the history of Singapore river, so that all of those on board can learn.

There are a few findings. Sir Stamford Raffles' back is facing the river! Which means we are watching his ass!! I thought he was originally facing the river right? Anybody knows?

Also Singapore river is milky. It is so unlike Tioman's rivers which has fishes and visible sea bed.

Overall, it's fun to be on the River cruise with my family members and Josh loves it. He even pee in the river, while the cruise is moving!! So amazing right?

Come to think of it. It is coincidental that we did rice dumplings and went for a river cruise on the same day. Why? Because legend has it that Qu yuan jumped into the river and to prevent his flesh from being eaten by fishes, fishermen threw in rice dumplings. This started the tradition.

Great day spent..
