Rainfall and Fun!
Yesterday, I brought my two children out for a Bishan Park walk and it's really a cool morning, just that it was cloudy. They both cycled to Bishan Park and there were so many people exercising! Everything was so fine and at the bridge, someone gave us bread. To eat? No. It's to feed the fishes illegally. We did and the children love to see the tortoise and fish eat the tough solid overdue bread!
It started to drizzle slightly and we headed to the nearest place to eat. MacDonald's! What do you expect? The only fast food restaurant happily beaming at you early in the morning! That's really once in a while breakfast. Josh reminded me that it's one time and he even told Kate that we are going to have breakfast at MacDonald's! She didn't really understand what's that, so she didn't show any excitement!
We bought Breakfast Deluxe ala carte because I do not want them to eat hash brown and drink tea too. We went to a nearby shelter and it was really nice to have a meal under the shelter with a slight drizzle!
The three of us ate it quite fast, and Josh, as usual, wanted to have quite a few dips of maple syrup added to his pancakes. Kate didn't really like the sausage and ate the bread only.
The drizzle stopped and we headed back home. And guess what? We passed by the shelter ( a train track ), which was the place the three of us were left stranded due to the rain. Ironically, I reminded him about it. And Josh recalled! We continued our journey back.
Guess what again! The rain started to pour! I just opened my jaw wide open and the rain kept marching in. What should I do!!! The déjà vu feeling came as last year, the three of us got stranded due to the rain. And we had a towel to cover us for 5 minutes. This time, we had no umbrella and towel!
I brainstormed and we have to make it to the shelter once again. Otherwise, we will be wet chickens! Kate folded her legs up on the stroller and Josh began to panic. I took off my singlet and quickly covered Josh at the head, and told him to cycle towards the shelter. I then pushed Kate throughout the 100m dash. It's certainly like those drama war-torn shows, wanting to protect your children and you have your limits. I ran too fast and Josh started to cry loudly because I left him midway.
When Kate and I reached the shelter, I placed the stroller there. And ran back to the mid way mark to escort crying and red-faced Josh. Poor boy and we went to the shelter finally! During the short but long journey, I kept assuring him that it's alright.
Both children were in safe environment now but they were crying from the shock. Kate was alright but she saw Josh cry and she followed, to even cry louder. I was drenched but I wiped them with the shirt as a towel. Lol.
We called for Eve, our helpline. She was queuing up mid way in NTUC. She took cab and fetched us back. We were all so relieved! Eve said, "I'm just waiting for your call when it rained!" What a funny statement.
I feel that going through these experiences with your spouse and children, it makes us even closer because of these unique experiences. And Josh said to Eve on the cab, "Second time." He meant that this was his second time to experience this no-umbrella-stuck-in-middle-of-no-way!
