Zoo

It's been awhile since I have brought my two children to the Zoo! And this time, it's fun because we walked our own pace, without rushing and even though there are so many people, we had our fair share of fun!

Journey from our home to the Zoo..

Weather's so fine on a Sunday and boy you need an umbrella. The children brought their cute umbrellas there!

We took a train stop to Ang Mo Kio. And my two patriotic children kept singing Majulah Singapura and waving their small flags as they walked through the train station!

It's really sweet and heart-warming to see them hand in hand walking and Josh just followed Kate's pace.

Thereafter, we took the 138 bus from Ang Mo Kio Bus Interchange.

Bringing children to the zoo, you just need to bring 3 important stuff!

1. Insect Repellent. Mosquitoes are inevitable, especially for me, being an A+ blood carrier. They love me so much.
2. Food - our food list includes 2 apples, 1 orange, 3 QQ rice balls, 1 packet of nuts, 1 packet of rice crackers as a snack.
3. Water Bottles. A mineral water bottle cost $3 at the Zoo. Hence we brought a large one and a child's water bottle. And it's just right!

At the Zoo...

They are squatting to see the small fishes. And Patriotic Josh wants to see the larger fishes, because Taipei zoo has a lot of them.

We were lucky. We went to the nearest shelter after the entrance and saw the polar bear. It was 12.50pm. It happened that at 1pm, it's the feeding time for the polar bear! And it's really a great swimmer. It's funny though because the brochure didn't state anything about the polar bear feeding time.

His name is Inuka, Singapore born polar bear. And he loves meat and water melon popsicle. Josh remembered it as the sad polar bear. However, today we saw a different sight of the polar bear! So lovely! We were taught that his birth weight is only 475g. Now he is 578kg. 10000 times!! How amazing!

Zebras are another favorite for both my children. I asked Josh what is the colour of the Zebra. Guess what is his reply?

"Black and white and black and white and black and white!" So funny!

We walked and walked and came to the Giraffe station. And coincidentally, it's the feeding time for the Giraffe! Their necks are so long and I made it interactive to my children by linking our necks to the giraffe.

Notice there is a metal wire fence near the giraffe's legs? They are actually electric wires!! I was shocked. One of them touched it and had a momentary electric shock! The whole big giraffe slanted sideways... That's when I knew it had electricity.

This picture is taken by a passerby. Nice? Before this picture, we saw a small pond and the children loved the small fishes. Guess what? I squat down and I heard a split sound! My berms had a hole! Oh gosh! Luckily it wasn't so bad. It's twice of a palm. Ha.. Josh's reply was 真可怜!

Overall, it was a great trip with just my two children and I on a Sunday afternoon. We finished all the food we have brought and they had their short power nap on the cab ride home! :)

Hope we can come more often!!
